Abstract

The development of negative construction in the language of an Indonesian child is examined. The data were the male child's utterances recorded for one year, from age 1;6 to 2;6, in a naturalistic parental participant observation. The results of data analysis seem to lead to a confirmation that the linguistic behaviors of language-acquiring children at the same time reflect species-specific, language-specific, and individual-specific processes of language acquisition.
